Fuzz pedals left a landmark in musical and even social history. They link us to a musical revolution at the break-out of conventional norm sounds. Pushing your instrument tone harder than it can go, you can add a new fullness that's so rawly linked to your clean voice. A fuzz pedal is like another instrument which speaks its own voice using your musical signal.

Using the old technology and components, this recreation is designed to be a real working time portal - something impossible to create with modern electronics construction. A properly built fuzz can let all of the richness of your guitar shine through with a full body break-up. Being able to rock a good fuzz sound is still a guitarist's special edge.

Why construct the world another fuzz like so everybody else? It's different. It stops at no measures to do everything to make an authentically classic sounding fuzz. Every components plays a roll in the simple circuit design and brings its own character to the fuzz. The Tsuchi Fuzz has to be made with all authentic mojo parts so that you can plug in and the mojo is all set up for you.

I began modifying my first germanium fuzz back in 2004 and shortly after sold only a few with hand screen-printed graphics. This circuit has been modified for richer sounds, while still being able to dial in exactly what a good sounding original fuzz should sound like while being more compatible with modern varied setups.

Tsuchi Fuzz has a highly sensitive attack response. The stronger the dynamic the more pronounced the edginess becomes. A soft shine can be pushed into a smooth mushy fuzz-up.

With four controls, you'll think of it as like many boutique fuzzes combined in one. The controls are dead simple though and it's nearly impossible to make a tone that isn't pleasing to the ear.

PRE-GAIN: The internal gain is fixed and a volume control is used at the very beginning of the circuit called "PRE-GAIN" to emulate rolling your guitar volume knob back. This controls the amount of fuzz. This has a better compatibility in more configurations.

BOTTOM: Most original fuzzes had a very heavily saturated bottom end. This usually sounds great but really limits the pedal to one tone and doesn't work well in every situation. The Tsuchi Fuzz has a bottom end taming control which both changed the bass response as well as giving more definition to the fuzz character. This is not a simple bass cut by using a smaller input or output capacitor like others do, which drops out all frequencies below a certain point, but rather a way of dialing bass down so that none of the original instrument frequencies are forever abandoned. This can also help out with using humbuckers and if you want a sound closer to single coil pickups or moving to the neck pickup for a smoother sound.

BIAS: There is an internal control on the circuit board to adjust bias. This should come and is used to balance the tone for a more spitty/splattery sound or to make it a smoother mushy sound.

VOLUME: Increased output means the Tsuchi Fuzz can deliver far beyond a unity gain.

All first generation transistor were PNP. Unlike other PNP fuzz faces, this one does not need to use it's own isolated or special kind of power supply. It simply uses the standard type and can be shared with other pedals.

A hand made circuit board layout has been developed with 1960's inspired artwork with rounded flowing copper tracks. This is made on a tanned paper-based board, not a modern fibre-glass. The copper traces are plated with tin after etching.

These components are only while still available in stock. In other words - until they are gone.
*As old parts are not consistently available, parts may be substituted to those shown in the photo. The photo is only an example of the build quality and quality of part kinds used. Even two of the same kind of germanium transistor usually will no respond that same way. As such all parts are tested, sorted and matched to make the circuit as intended. Most germanium transistors now left available are not suited to make the best sounding fuzzes.
