Ever noticed that...

Distortion and overdrive pedals rarely sound good used on their own?
A few pedals in series create a much better high gain sound than a single pedal cranked?
Tube amps use anywhere from 3 to 5 low-gain stages to get a good overdriven sound, whilst most overdrive and distortion pedals use only 1 high gain stage to try to emulate the same effect?
Some pedals are great high-gain pedals, and some are great low-gain pedals, but very few can comfortably cover both ends of the spectrum?
Most pedal have very ordinary tone controls?
Most distortion and overdrive pedals don't have much volume boost?

These observations fed into the design process of the Tube Zone, leading to the following design criteria:

A signal path which emulates the signal path in a tube amp.
Multiple gain stages designed to react like a good tube amp.
Sound remains tight and focused
The ability to operate both as a low gain and a high gain overdrive pedal,... and everything in between.
Powerful and flexible tone control to cover most styles of music from blues to metal and anything in between.
High output levels for overdriving the front end of an amp.
High quality, heavy duty die-cast metal casing and a heavy duty footswitch with true bypass.
